The fantasy of Werewolf By Night, however, might have a surprising connection to the world presented in The Eternals. Or, at the very least, there is a connection between the monster hunting world of the Disney Plus special and one of the supporting characters in the science fiction epic.

While the special doesn’t go into detail about the history of monster hunting in the MCU, it does give the audience hints at the history of monsters in the world. The home and meeting place of Ulysses Bloodstone is full of trophies of the monsters he and his compatriots have hunted. It’s also full of images that might have some historic significance.
Some illustrations presented during the opening of the special depict monster hunters throughout history. There are some illustrations that are Marvel Easter eggs and nods to comic book creatures, while others give the audience hints at things that have happened, or might still happen in the MCU. One of those illustrations is a group of knights, each with their own weapons, taking on monsters themselves, which is where the connection to the Eternals might come in.
As Werewolf By Night demonstrates, there are many different monster hunters. It’s unclear if everyone invited to Bloodstone Manor are just people who knew the Bloodstone family, or if they’re the only monster hunters in the world. Each of the hunters is from a different place with a different specialty and a different number of kills under their belt. The inclusion of Jack Russell hints that not all monster hunters, however, have to be human, or wield a normal human weapon.
Kit Harrington’s Dane Whitman inherits a sword during the credits of Eternals. That sword is the Ebony Blade. Dane, also known as the Black Knight in Marvel comics, doesn’t know the full story of his inherited blade in the MCU just yet, and it remains to be seen if the blade will have all of the same properties it does in Marvel comics. While he does use it against magic users and supernatural creatures, the blade is so enchanted that it tends to corrupt those who use it. In the illustration of the knights in Werewolf By Night, one of those swords used doesn’t look all that different from the Ebony Blade, hinting at the MCU seeing Black Knights as part of the world of the monster hunters. It’s entirely possible that in the world of the MCU, Whitman’s family legacy is one of monster hunting as well, but he just doesn’t know it yet.
It might be awhile before the Ebony Blade’s connection to the world of monsters is confirmed though. After all, it’s the voice of Mahershala Ali’s Blade who cautions Dane against picking up the sword in the Eternals scene.
Blade is something of a monster hunter himself in the comics, often going after the vampires that are actually evil. Blade, however, wouldn’t be likely to score an invite to a gathering of monster hunters himself since the others would have considered him a monster as much as Jack Russell and Tim Sallis. Blade is half-vampire-half-human, and able to walk in the daylight.
Blade and Whitman have worked together on the same team in the comics before, and it does seem like that the unusual pair of potential monster hunters will be working together on the big screen as well. With Blade having a few development slow-downs, it’s not clear when they’ll make it to the big screen, but all signs point to the two of them being paired up in Blade’s MCU movie.
